Couples & Families
Relationships throw up all sorts of challenges. I help people in a variety of relationships to understand each other better and to improve patterns of interacting and communicating with each other.
We all know the story of Cinderella. But have you ever thought of it from the perspective of one of the Ugly Sisters? Or the Step-mother? What would it be like to be thought of as the ugly one in relation to a beautiful goody-goody who monopolizes her father's attention? What's it like to have big feet in a society that prizes small? What are the challenges that face a step-mother trying to create a new family unit where she is constantly being cast as the bad guy, or the disciplinarian? Will her new husband EVER stop pining for his poor dead first wife, and give her the attention she craves?
Relationship therapy is a powerful process. It provides the opportunity for people who are caught in distressing and repetitive patterns of interacting, to step outside these patterns and examine them within the safety of the therapeutic environment.
